Project description
Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering
Future power systems are expected to have high penetration of renewables, energy storage, smart home prosumers with electrical cars and household appliances. As complexity of the power system increases and the digitalisation of the energy system is progressing, the frequency of unexpected events will increase at the same time as the inertia in the system is shrinking, making it more sensitive to disruptions with less time to act. This makes the energy system vulnerable for cyber and physical attacks, which are likely to increase. Improving security of energy infrastructure and resilience is therefore crucial for the functionality of our societies.
The REDISET project aims to identify, analyze, and develop proposals for risk reduction measures for possible weaknesses and resilience in a strongly integrated and sector-linked energy system.
This PhD project is part of the REDISET project and aims to develop optimal strategies that includes consequence analysis of reliability and climate and environmental aspects. As a PhD student you will be develop descriptions of the future energy systems as well as control mitigation strategies against disturbances and attacks.
The REDISET project is funded by Nordic Energy Research and Energimyndigheten and will work closely with three TSOs (Statnett, Svenska kraftnät and Fingrid).
