New video of deadly NYC subway chokehold released as suspect’s trial begins
Lawyers made opening statements in the trial of Daniel Penny, the Marine veteran charged in the chokehold death of a man on a New York subway last year. The prosecution argues Penny used too much force for too long on the man, while the defense maintains he was trying to protect other passengers. Police bodycam video with disturbing images was released showing the suspect’s first encounter with police.
