Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul no more
Prominent industrialist Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul has passed away at a hospital in the capital on Monday. He was 74.

According to a report published on the online edition of The Daily Jugantar owned by the Jamuna Group, Nurul Islam was tested positive for Coronavirus on June 14. On the same day, he was admitted to Ever Care Hospital in the capital.
His kidneys were damaged by the Coronavirus, said the report.
The report further said that a 10-member medical board was formed under the leadership of Brigadier General (retd) Mahbud, a doctor of Ever Care, for the treatment of Nurul Islam Babul.
Apart from this, four specialist doctors from China and two specialist doctors from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore gave advice for him through teleconference.
Babul is survived by his wife, one son and three daughters.
Freedom fighter Nurul Islam was born on May 3 in 1946 in an aristocratic Muslim family in Dohar upazila of Dhaka district.
Nurul’s wife is Salma Islam, MP, also a former state minister for women and children.
