লক্ষ্মীপুর: আজ মধ্যরাত থেকে লক্ষ্মীপুরের মেঘনা নদীতে দুই মাসের জন্য মাছ শিকার বন্ধ ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। জাটকা ইলিশ রক্ষায় এ উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে মৎস্য অধিদফতর।

সোমবার (২৮ ফেব্রুয়ারি) সন্ধ্যায় লক্ষ্মীপুর সদর উপজেলার মজুচৌধুরীর ঘাটে গিয়ে দেখা গেছে মাছ ক্রয়-বিক্রয়ের দৃশ্য। শেষদিন হওয়ায় অধিক মূল্যে মাছ বিক্রি হয়েছে এ ঘাটে। বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির মাছের পাশাপাশি ঘাটে বেশিরভাগই ছিল জাটকা ইলিশ।
মজুচৌধুরীর হাট মাছ ঘাটের আড়ৎদার বাবুল হোসেন বলেন, আজকের পর থেকে দুই মাস জেলেরা নদীতে মাছ শিকার করতে পারবেনা। তাই নদী থেকে জেলেরা তাদের শিকারকৃত মাছ নিয়ে ঘাটে ভিড় করছে। মাছগুলো আজকের মধ্যেই বিক্রি করতে হবে। আগামীকাল থেকে মাছ ক্রয়-বিক্রয় নিষিদ্ধ।
জেলে কামাল হোসেন বলেন, আজকে যা মাছ পেয়েছি, সন্ধ্যার মধ্যেই এনে ঘাটে বিক্রি করে দিই। আগামীকাল থেকে দু’মাসের জন্য নদীতে যাওয়া হবে না। তাই মাছ ধরার নৌকা খালে নোঙর করে রেখে দেব। আর এ সময়ের মধ্যে জালগুলো মেরামত করে নেব।
ঘাটের মাছ ব্যবসায়ী আমান মাঝি বাংলানিউজকে বলেন, মাছ বিক্রির শেষদিন বিধায় ক্রেতার চাপ বেশি। তাই দামও বেশি। জেলেদের কাছ থেকে ডাক ধরে বেশি দামে মাছ কিনতে হচ্ছে আমাদের। ফলে খুচরা বাজারেও বেশি দামে বিক্রি করতে হচ্ছে।
ঘাটে মাছ কিনতে আসা নুরুল আলম বলেন, অন্যদিনের চেয়ে আজ মাছের দাম অনেক বেশি। মাছের পরিমাণ কম, কিন্তু ক্রেতা বেশি থাকায় বিক্রেতারা অধিক দামে বিক্রি করছে।
সদর উপজেলা সিনিয়র মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা সারোয়ার জামান বাংলানিউজকে বলেন, লক্ষ্মীপুরের রামগতির আলেকজান্ডার থেকে চাঁদপুরের ষাটনল পর্যন্ত ১০০ কি.মি. এলাকা মাছের অভয়াশ্রম হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে। এ সময় জাটকা ইলিশ যেন অভয়াশ্রমে নির্বিঘ্নে বিচরণ করতে পারে সেজন্য সকল প্রকার মাছ শিকার নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়েছে। জাটকা ঠিকমতো বেড়ে উঠার সুযোগ পেলে বড় ইলিশ মাছে রূপান্তরিত হবে। এতে দেশে ইলিশ মাছের উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধি পাবে।
