Photographing the ARP catalog of Galaxies by Gary Imm
March 4, 2022: 8:00pm
Gary Imm, from Onalaska, Texas, will present an updated version of his Astro Imaging Channel presentation from a few months ago entitled, Backyard Capture of the Complete Arp Catalog.
The Arp Catalog is the landmark collection of 338 peculiar galaxies published by Dr. Halton Arp in 1966. Gary will describe his imaging setup and process, focusing on the challenges of imaging these small obscure objects at a high focal length from a temporary backyard setup. Included will be side by side image comparisons showing the capability of today’s imaging and processing technology relative to the original Arp images, which were taken with the largest telescope in the world at the time.
