The Ultrafast Quantum Control Group at Dalhousie University and The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) to carry out research on the development of solid-state quantum emitters based on strained 2D semiconductors for the advancement of quantum technology applications such as sensors and quantum networks. The successful candidate will participate in a collaboration involving world leading experts in quantum control (Dalhousie) and nanofabrication (National Research Council of Canada – Ottawa) supported by the NRC Quantum Sensors Challenge Program. Components of the research will be carried out at both Dalhousie and NRC. Expertise in nonlinear optics and ultrafast laser physics is required. Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset: semiconductor physics, quantum optics, laser pulse shaping, nanophotonic systems, photoluminescence microscopy, 2D semiconductor dry transfer techniques. Applicants are required to have a PhD in physics or a closely related discipline.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is the Government of Canada’s largest research organization supporting industrial innovation, the advancement of knowledge and technology development. We collaborate with over 70 colleges, universities and hospitals annually, work with 800 companies on their projects, and provide advice or funding to over 8000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) each year.

Applications will be reviewed starting February 18, 2022. The appointment would begin as soon as possible with a duration of 3 years subject to satisfactory progress, however applications will be accepted and reviewed until the position is filled.
