Postdoctoral Researcher in Optical Instrumentation
A recent PhD degree in Astronomy, Optics or relevant field is required. The postdoctoral researcher will be under the supervision of Profs Ren and Christian. He/She will develop the polarimeter optical instrument for solar high-resolution imaging and solar magnetic field measurements, which involve optical system test, opto-mechanical assembly, and on-site instrument test at the California State University Northridge (CSUN) and the Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO). This is a joint project between CSUN and BBSO/New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).

Software programming skills, such as the LabVIEW and Matlab programming, are highly desirable. Knowledge of optical instrument test, alignment and development is needed. A US driver’s license to be able to drive between the CSUN and the BBSO is a plus but not necessary.
This is a two-year position, currently supported by two grants from the US National Science Foundation (NSF), with the possibility to extend for another year, depending on the availability of the funding.
