Reno has a wide range of shopping experiences from large outdoor malls like The Summit in South Reno or Legends at the Sparks Marina in Sparks. However, throughout the city and especially in Midtown, on CalAve and in downtown are shops that are locally raised and cater to both visitors and residents. Reno is fond of it’s antique shops and you will find a few downtown and in Midtown.



Be proud to wear a T-shirt from Reno eNVy in downtown Reno and be sure to get your Burning Man gear at Junkee Clothing Exchange and the Melting Pot in Midtown. Shops like these are what is bringing Reno into the fun and funky limelight. Other fun shopping experiences include Craft Wine & Beer and Sundance Books. Micano in Midtown specialize in items for the home including funky furniture and lamps, home decor, handmade fountains, garden statuary and one-of-a-kind items.



If you are into name brands, visit the very popular Patagonia Outlet in Verdi (just down the street from the Lavender Ridge farm) where you can pick up Patagonia gear for up to 40-60 percent off. Cabelas, which is also in Verdi is an outdoorsman’s paradise; with items for every type of outdoor sport including hunting, fishing and camping.

This is a hunter’s, fisherman’s and camper’s paradise. Cabela’s is located on Hwy. 80 near Boomtown in Verdi, just West of Reno. This impressive store has a huge selection of outdoor gear, camping gear, clothing, guns and gun paraphernalia, food and even a museum of stuffed animals and a freshwater aquarium full of sport fish. Cabela’s even has an outdoor inspired furniture section and a fudge and handmade candy store. The staff are friendly and knowledgable and the selection is quality. Most items are more expensive than your regular sports store, but each comes with a great return policy and some Cabela’s sales are great.

Recommended for Best Shopping because: Cabela’s has a wide selection of items as well as a cool fish tank.

Christina’s expert tip: Driving into Cabela’s at the Boomtown exit is a bit confusing. Just follow the Cabelas’ signs.

This little shop in Midtown is the place to pick up that special gift or to have a Sunday High Tea surrounded by everything Celtic. This refurbished home has holiday items, apparel, books, music and unique art from Ireland and Scotland as well as handmade lotions and soaps, glassware and items for the home and garden. The Isles has a tea shop as well with tea service that includes a pot of tea and some biscuits or scones.Their Sunday High Tea includes a full spread of Irish delights including tiny sandwiches with cucumber and chive cream cheese or smoked salmon. Also included are scones with clotted cream, jam, lemon curd, fruit and a “bottomless” pot of tea.

Recommended for Best Shopping because: The Isles sells interesting items from Ireland and Scotland as well as regional foods from Great Britain.

Micano Home and Garden in the Midtown neighborhood in Reno is an ethnic art gallery with handmade items for the garden and home decor. The style of most items is Latin and Native American and many of the items are made of wood, cast iron, iron and copper. Each item is beautiful and unique and the store itself is a little gem in the middle of town with a relaxed vibe and cool music. The price range from expensive for the larger furniture items, but you can also pick up some jewelry or smaller garden items for between $20 and $40.

The Summit Reno is the perfect place to find the perfect pair of shoes or a unique outfit. There are a lot of great stores, including Dillards, lululemon, Old Navy, New York & Company, Coach, Guess and the Apple Store. Also included are Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, Pottery Barn, Orvis and Sephora. After a day of shopping head to one of the many places to get a bite to eat, such as BJ’s Brewhouse or Wasabi Sushi. You can also catch the latest movie at the Cinemark Theaters. Parking is plentiful at the Summit which is located on the Mt. Rose Highway before heading up to the Mt. Rose Ski resort. There is also a shuttle that drives shoppers from store to store when the weather is not so nice. The Summit is a great place for special events too including their monthly wine walk and their Christmas tree lighting.

The Patagonia outlet in Midtown Reno offers the best Patagonia gear at 40-50 percent less than full price. The staff and the “green” building are wonderful and the selection is enticing. You may spend your whole vacation budget here. This outlet becomes jammed with shoppers during their special holiday sales. These sales take place several times a year and offer 40 percent off the already marked down prices of all items including shoes, luggage, clothing, children’s clothing and outdoor gear. The staff here is excellent, friendly and knowledgeable about their products and returns on sales items are no problem.

Recommended for Best Shopping because: The Patagonia Outlet has special events like free yoga.

Craft is a wine and beer lovers paradise. Located in Midtown Reno they specialize in handcrafted wines and beers from around the world. They also have harder to find items that you won’t find in stores. The employees and owners are very knowledgeable about each item. The beer is properly stored in a large climate controlled walk in cooler. Craft also has a small bar and rotates three beers on tap. They also serve several different types of wine every night and have special events on the weekends. The wine prices are very reasonable and run from around $6-$40 a bottle.

Recommended for Best Shopping because: Craft sells a wide range of unique beers, spirits and wine…and they have regular special events.

The beautiful Sundance Bookstore is located just south of downtown in a historical building from the late 1800s and houses not only new and used books but also a wonderful selection of magazines, newspapers, gifts, greeting cards, local artist’s works, writing journals, music CDs and coffee and tea. They specialize in Nevada authors, unusual books and hard to find books and music. Special events such as author signings, lectures, performances are held here on weekends and the rose garden in the front of the store is a nice entry into the nicest bookstore in Reno. This is a great place to tuck away in a corner and read for a while.

The Melting Pot in Midtown Reno is the unofficial Burning Man headquarters where you can pick up costumes. EL wire and specialty items for the annual even in the Black Rock desert. The Melting Pot also sells incense items, handmade jewelry and items for meditation and yoga, beautiful locally handmade clothing, fake tattoo and henna equipment, candles, hat, scarves and purses and other items. The staff is very knowledgeable about their various items. There is a special area in the back for anyone who is interested in smoking various substances and you can also pick up tickets here for various concerts.

Junkee Clothing Exchange is located in the cool and funky Midtown neighborhood, which is just south of downtown. The shop is chock full of cool used clothes, hats, shoes, jewelry, and accessories for Burning Man and costume parties. Just next to the clothing secion is an antique shop with both vintage and retro items for the home. You can also bring in your gently used clothing items and Junkee will buy them from you for a certain percentage. The buying hours are from noon to 4:00 Monday through Saturday. The shopping experience is enhanced with great music and the staff and owner are fun and ready to help you find the perfect outfit or special piece for your home. The store features exhibits from local artists and special events include a Burner fashion show and various sewing classes.

Recommended for Best Shopping because: Junkee Clothing Exchange is at the center of funky Midtown and plays the best music.

The Reno eNVy store in downtown Reno has several goals. One of them is to become the signature brand of Nevada and they do that with local artists’ interpretations of why a lot of people visit the area and are envious of what we have. Their iconic trailer logo celebrates Reno’s outdoor lifestyle while poking fun and not taking themselves too seriously. Reno eNVy sells graphic and printed T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps and children’s clothes with the Reno eNVy or Battle Born logo on it in many different forms. Most shirts cost about $20 and most sweatshirts are around $40. Reno eNVy does have sales.
