Since 18th century, astrology and astronomy have been regarded as separate disciplines. Astronomy is a subject which deals with the objects and phenomena occurring beyond the earth’s atmosphere. It is strictly a stream of science and widely accepted as academic discipline. On the other hand, astrology is the prediction of future on the basis of positions of celestial bodies. It determines the effect of various planets, constellations and other astronomical bodies on the life of human body without providing any logical reasoning for it. In modern world, it is considered not more than a blind faith.
Although astrology and astronomy seem to be quite opposite in nature, yet astrology has helped a lot in the development of astronomy. For example, for many centuries, the desire to improve astrological forecasting has been the dominant motivation behind the development of astronomical observations and theories. The more knowledge of astronomical bodies and various relevant phenomena, the more better astrological predictions. Really amazing!
If we analyse the key content of astrology, it has 12 signs of the zodiac to gain insight into the life, career and relationship of people. Each zodiac sign has its own effect. Person having a particular zodiac sign has to face the consequences associated with it. On the other hand, astronomy, one has to study about planets, stars, black holes, galaxies, nebula and more using advanced mathematics, physics and computer science.
Today, both astronomy and astronomy use computer applications, although in different ways. Due to constantly evolving technologies, astronomy is also quite progressive as it uses technologies for better observation of surrounding universe. Conducting experiments has also become comparatively easier for astronomers. So they are constantly contributing in the development of astronomy.
