While on the plane, when those of us with short layovers mentioned that we may be late, we were told “you’ll be fine – they hold the planes for a bit.” When we deboarded the plane from New York, we ere wrangled into groups depending on our destinations. Many of us assumed that we were going to be taken to our next flights as we had been told they would be waiting for us. The airline rep in charge of my group refused to tell us any information, however, only admitting after we got confrontational with her that we had missed our flights. She then offered no information about what would happen to us, telling us we’d find out when we got to the rebooking counter. Very unprofessional. I was told that I would have to wait for another 24 hours for the next flight, necessitating that I would spend the night in Qatar. I was put up in a hotel that was decent, but again that offered very little in terms of customer service. We were given an $80 meal allowance, but despite me not using it, I was nickeled and dimed in other aspects to where I ended up paying $20 to help reschedule a flight that I had missed in my destination country. The whole ordeal was a nightmare and mostly due to poor communication and very cold, almost robotic interactions with the QA staff on the ground in Doha.”

According to IATA and international rules I am now due a full refund on my flight cost and will start proceedings against Turkish Airlines for this money. It was a nightmare for all the hours waiting. We also had to deplane in IST from the JFK flight on steps rather than into a gate!! Same with the TLV/IST flight. Terrible.”

I’m a very medium sized build and really short (5′ 6″) and I was so uncomfortable I wanted to (and probably will) cancel my return flight with them. My wife’s back is still hurting from that flight. The staff are just plain awful save for 2 flight attendants. Out of 2 flights so far. I was told afterwards that this is commonplace when flying Turkish Airlines. For fairness sake I should mention that both Egypt Air and Saudi Airlines were worse. Whatever money you think you’re saving by flying this atrocity you’re gonna be spending on fixing your neck and back. Spend the extra and go with Swiss or even Delta. Avoid this rubbish”

Plus the crew were very friendly and accommodating. The boarding was smooth though a bit delayed but that was probably more dependent on the airport than the airline.”

Because of the bubble agreement b/w India and Srilanka, I was not allowed to board the flight to Columbo. My experience about airport representatives was good. They were through in their job and saved my family from getting stuck in Columbo (as I would not be able to fly to Doha because of bubble agreement). So by their prompt attention, such a catastrophe was avoided. For this reason, even without flying with them, I would rate them 7/10.

Pros: “This was my first time flying in and out of Colombo and on Sri Lankan Air. I was impressed by the staff, the service, and the in flight amenities, considering it was a short 1 hour flight from Colombo to Maldives.”

Cons: “I had no dislikes in this trip in particular.”

Pros: “Free entertainment (nice selection of movies), free food and drinks (food is a bit spicy, but within reason), more leg room than expected.”

Cons: “At first they refused to let me in on the plane, because they misread the instructions from Dubai and thought I couldn’t even be at the airport. I can’t go into Dubai, but I can be at the terminal. To their credit, they realized their mistake just in time and I was able to make the flight, albeit barely, so no harm done.”

Cons: “The boarding in Colombo was typical for a lot of these airports I guess but I hate it. Go outside, cram in a bus, drive to the airplane and everyone fights to get in at once. Talking about an Airbus 330-300. Took an eternity to load”

Pros: “The staff was super friendly and professional, the entertainment was great for such a short flight and I felt like the airplane was cleaner than normal.”

Pros: “Colombo to Male & vice versa by Sri Lankan airlines has been very disappointing to be polite with regard to disgusting food served by them in small cardboard box with no choices whatsoever unlike a standard career nor what they practiced in the past by serving real food chics, not even a cup of tea or copy. Disgracely shocking practice by a national career & not by any means budget airline. Previously Mihiri Air served even better choice of food & drink at moderate prices but price of ticket was at least 50% cheaper. SL Govt with SLA With no regard for passenger comfort nor giving them a reasonabl deal on his sector should be condemned & boycotted. As a regular traveler I will look at Emirates as a better airlines despite with a different time slots still would be cheaper & value FO money. Wake up Sri Lankan Airlines from your slumber”

Cons: “Check-in was not efficient at all. I had 2 luggages to check-in and had to wait more than 1 hour on the queue to get into the service counter. Hope they will adapt a better system / more officers to manage issues related with both people and luggages.”

Cons: “Sri Lankan seems to fly very old A320 aircraft on this route, at least for the daytime flights, and these have limited comfort in business class and rather small entertainment systems by today’s standards. But it’s surprising that the food quality is also poor because Sri Lanka has such amazing cuisine as a country.”

The stewardess choice to side with him because it was ok to crush my knees because he paid for a upgrade in seat,”

Cons: “This time The experience was super horrible! Took almost 1hr 30 mins to get boarding pass. I had 2 suit case one was 24.5 kg and other one was 25 kg, they wanted me to pay $132 for each bag or take out stuff to make it 23kg. Never met someone that horrible who doesn’t want to let it go. I requested the wheelchair and they dont wana give it to me, I had no choice but to call their supervisor and eventually got wheelchair only from jfk to abu dhabi. Worse experience.”

Cons: “The Connecting flight from Dubai to New Delhi was full of chaos. You should consider females seat priority while allocating the seats. I was so uncomfortable sitting with a person who was drinking whisky repeatedly and also please take care of the smell in the aircraft , it was really bad in the flight from Dubai to N Delhi Juice should have some more options”

Pros: “The staff were kind, professional, attentive, and each person brought a warm elegance to their interactions with patrons. My seat ate who was a stranger to me got messily sick and the attendant was gracious and helpful to her. Also the meal from Abu Dhabi to Bengaluru was the most delicious I’ve ever had on any flight, which includes some international first class travel.”

Cons: “I have long thighs so my knees butted against the seat in front of me.”

Cons: “Unorganized lines for check in at JFK airport. Wheelchair was not provided, though it was requested before a month. Customer service rep didn’t try to call for a wheelchair.”

Cons: “they asked me to check-in my carry on (which i am always able to take with me, and which i was able to take with me on the first leg of even this journey). it came as a surprise and i was in a flux, Thank God I had my passport in my pocket or it would have turned into a nightmare (I keep my stuff e.g. jacket, wallet, etc in my carry on)”

Cons: “I had chosen an aisle seat and vegetarian food online. Neither were given. The food choices were meager.”

Pros: “We had a medical emergency so we couldn’t take our flight. The crew were nice about understanding our situation.”

Cons: “Lost our bags, didn’t call us back. We had to go to the airport to find someone to look into our bags. It’s been over a week and we still don’t know where they are. :-(“

Some of the agents were novices After boarding some passengers couldn’t find place for their carry on a. They were rudley informed that they are carrying large carry ones and were threatened with deboatdong if they weren’t fast in finding alternate places for their bags”

Pros: “Got an exit seat, so really enjoyed the leg room and overall flight experience.”

Cons: “The flight did not take off on time, either from NYC to Abu Dhabi or Abu Dhabi to Islamabad. From Abu Dhabi to Islamabad, it was almost an hour late.”

Cons: “Food was mediocre,and while boarding the buisness class and economy lines are chaotic, looks like no one is in charge!”

Pros: “You know how it is. It’s a long haul international flight and you’re flying economy. NOTHING is ever good.”

Cons: “Seats are super narrow, wifi did not work, food was quite poor.”

Cons: “Ground staff is so inefficient and checkin process at JFK and boarding at AUH is abysmal. Ground staff at JFK have no regard for time and on time departure. Seriously lacking in entertainment options inflight and food is mediocre. Etihad is seriously lagging other competitors from same region like Enirates. This would effect my choice airline for my future travels.”

Cons: “Though happy there was kids meal provided seeing pasta in all 3 meals not very appetizing. Sweet side dish were mediocre at best. There were no snack available or provided for kids except the meal box. When requested milk for my kid some milk from flask was given which I was not comfortable giving to my son.. there were other issues but my sons comfort was the most Concerning”

Pros: “We bought ticket from New York to Islamabd round trip ticket and fly on August 22nd. After changed plan in Abu Dhabi to Islamabad, there was rain in Islamabad and all flight diverted to Lahore, so our Etihad air plan diverted to Lahore too. once the weather cleared in few hours , all air line did fly back to Islamabad a 50 minutes flight but unfortunately Etihad air way force everyone out of airplane by force. They used police to beat up passenger very bad and drags them out. Then put all passenger in old Bus to Islamabad a 5 hours trip. One of worst air line in my life. We bought ticket for Islamabad not for Lahore. They should take us back to Islamabad after rain stop like other air line did but only Etihad air way did not fly back and beat all passenger by using police on them, it took us 34 hours to get home.”

Cons: “Etihad air way should apologize to each passenger and Reimburse them 1/4 of the ticket. otherwise lot of people will give up this airline . 2nad their meal was very bad. bread was not fully cooked. they cooked only Hindy food. not every person is Hindu. It welcome to providr hindu food when travel india but when it travel to Pakistan or Bangladesh it should name it Hindu meal.”

Cons: “Because I purchased the ticket from kayak I feel like they punished me. I had a 14 hour layover. I went to the counter ask about a meal voucher and they said I didn’t qualify because I purchased through a 3rd party and so I sat there for 14 hours dreaming of when I would eat next.”

Cons: “The entire menu was southern Indian with very strong spices and awful taste. I can understand that there are a lot of Indians on the flight but Etihad should have options for non Indian dishes as only Indians would have a taste for what was served. Very bad experience for our entire family.”

Pros: “The economy seats have an innovative recline which really adds to comfort, especially for such a long trans-Atlantic flight. The crew was very professional and helpful. Efficient. The entire Etihad Experience was excellent. The boarding happened on schedule, the flights as promised. No missed connections, no issues with baggage. Top Notch. Very clean aircraft.”

Cons: “For whatever reason they would not let me keep my carry-ons as JetBlue did, so I had to check one of them. They have weight limits for the carry-ons, which I understand, but in my case they really were not large, and not very heavy. It is what it is.”

Cons: “Pathetic airline service especially towards senior citizens.. One of the worst airline.. Poor baggage tracking system and Etihad staff lacks knowledge about their own airline..”

Cons: “Waiting on the tarmac for more than 2 hours for flight to take off. Missing the connecting flight to New Delhi from Abu Dhabi. Stranded in the Abu Dhabi terminal for more than 24 hours to get back to New Delhi. The airline did not provide a room to stay & forced to stay in the terminal for 24 hours. Never ever travel via Etihad.”
